At the end of October, I did a live coaching session with Lorraine Sanders from the Spirit of 608 podcast. (You can catch it here.) In it I talked about where the name Blessed Designs came from. It's definitely not what you're thinking, but at the same time it still completely encompasses who we are as a brand.
I started to develop fairly early in the bust area. It runs in the family, and any time my sister and I would complain or make a comment about it in a negative way my mother would always tell us that we were "blessed". So how did that get to be the name of the clothing line? Well, it actually is a brand name I've carried with me over time. Originally I wanted to create a line of clothing specifically for large busts. I was going to of course call it Blessed. :) Now you're getting it.
Ultimately, it was just a reminder to be thankful for everything. Even, and maybe especially, those things we're more apt to consider a burden. It's those things that make us stronger, develop our character, and shape us into the people that we are.
How does this relate to the current Blessed Designs brand? It shows us that no matter what we go through or deal with, we'll always be "blessed". There will always be something to show gratitude for. There will always be another way to look at something. You can always turn a negative into a positive and find the silver lining in a dark cloud.
It's about learning to dance in the rain, make lemons out of lemonade, and realizing you're capable of handling anything the world throws at you. It's about training your mind to see the good in every situation, keeping your head up, and believing the glass is half full. It's not ignoring the reality of life around you, but keeping the hope that things can and WILL get better. And that starts with you.
